Since 2014 it has taught Chemistry and Science, and nothing else. No English, no Maths, no general enrichment. That one constraint decided everything that followed: who it hired, what it wrote, and eventually the decision to build and license its own laboratory instead of renting a classroom and describing experiments on a whiteboard.
Twelve years on, Achievers Dream has taught more than 4,126+ students, runs three centres, and has carried the same method down into a Primary Science programme built for the PSLE. The thread running through all of it is one idea: a child who understands Science can still lose marks, and closing that gap is a teachable craft.
One subject, taken seriously
Achievers Dream started with a conviction that sounds obvious and is rarely acted on: Chemistry is not a subject you teach well on the side. The centre is built around that single field so that every worksheet, every lesson plan and every piece of apparatus could be designed for the same job.
The lab is where that choice became expensive and therefore real. In 2018 Achievers Dream obtained an NEA permit to store and use hazardous substances for teaching, and has renewed it every year since. That permit is the line between a laboratory and a room with beakers in it. It covers nine controlled reagents, including hydrochloric, sulphuric and nitric acids, ammonia solution, potassium hydroxide and chlorine solution, which means students at Achievers Dream run reactions that most centres can only talk about. It is Singapore’s first NEA-approved Chemistry teaching lab, and the permit is what gives it the widest range of Chemistry experiments a private centre can offer.

The gap the centre was built to close
Singapore has no shortage of tuition. What is harder to find is a centre that treats science as its whole craft rather than one line on a subject list.
Science asks for two things a broad programme tends to skim. The first is hands-on practical skill, which cannot be simulated on a worksheet. The second is answer construction: the exact phrasing, sequence and keyword a marker is trained to award. Most students who underperform in Science are not confused about the concept. They lose the marks somewhere between understanding it and writing it down.
Specialising freed Achievers Dream to invest where a general centre cannot: a permitted lab, a full set of in-house materials, and teaching built around how the subject is actually examined, from PSLE Science up to A-Level H2 Chemistry.

Inside the Primary Science programme
The primary programme, which runs for Primary 5 and Primary 6, carries the same practical habit into a younger classroom. Practical work is not a separate session parents sign up for. The apparatus comes into the ordinary lesson, the teacher runs the demonstration and the children take part in it, so the concept and the evidence for it land in the same hour.
From Primary 5 the focus turns to what the PSLE actually tests: data-based questions, keyword precision, and the answering structure that separates an AL3 from an AL1. Classes are capped at 12 students, and every lesson is recorded, so revision does not depend on a ten-year-old remembering what was said on a Tuesday.
The results back it up. Since the primary department opened in 2020, 86.1% of Achievers Dream Primary Science students have scored AL1 to AL3 at the PSLE, across more than 400 children. Achievers Dream has grown by going deeper into one field rather than wider across many. Today it runs three centres in Singapore: headquarters at 9 Jalan Bingka in Bukit Timah, New Tech Park at Lorong Chuan, and Kembangan. The NEA-permitted laboratory operates at 5 Jalan Bingka, and secondary and JC students come to it for practical work.

Curriculum development stays in-house. Achievers Dream’s own specialists turn top-school and prelim papers into weekly worksheets, colour-coded cheat sheets and practical guides, then revise them each year against the MOE syllabus. The cheat sheets exist for a specific reason: dense theory is easier to recall when it has been given a shape and a colour.
Teachers are hired for subject depth and classroom experience. The team includes ex-MOE teachers, a Chemistry head of department, and tutors holding a PhD, Master’s or degree in Chemistry. Because the centre teaches one field, its teachers specialise instead of stretching across four subjects they half-know.
Quality control is built into the model rather than bolted on. The permitted lab lets students rehearse the practical skills national papers examine.
