With all the talks of a Singapore-HK travel bubble growing then popping multiple times this year, it’s hard to not think about all the HK delicacies we’re missing out on right now. But if you’re pining for a taste of Hong Kong’s pastries, there’s actually a popular HK bakery in Singapore, Hang Heung, and they are opening their 4th outlet!
While most of their original outlets were located in the central and town areas, Hang Heung will finally be entering the heartlands with their first heartland outlet in Ang Mo Kio.
You’d be able to find the new outlet on the first floor of Ang Mo Kio Hub, making it convenient for many people whose buses might bring them to the busy shopping centre.
While many people in Singapore probably aren’t familiar with the brand, Hang Heung is an old-school establishment in Hong Kong with more than a 100-year-old heritage.
They’re basically one of the most famous bakery brands in Hong Kong, which are especially famous for their delectable and flaky “老婆饼” (AKA Wife Biscuits or Wife Cakes).
Besides their signature Wife Cake ($16.80/6pcs) though, Hang Heung also has a bunch of other signature pastries such as Country Egg Rolls (S$22.80/21pcs).
Another popular item in their inventory is the alluringly molten Lava Custard Cake (S$21/6pcs) for those who can’t get enough of glowy golden liu sha.
You’ve also got other classic traditional pastries on their shelves including Red Bean Paste Cake (S$2.80), Almond Cookies (S$12.50/20pcs) and Almond Crisps (S$9/12pcs).
